The Guadalajara Reporter’s review of Mexican High

Comments

Liza Monroy is an extraordinary writer. “Mexican High”
is the finest novel that I have read in a long time.
It’s right up there with Luis Urrea’s book “Hummingbird’s
Daughter”. Monroy’s characters are all believable.
The portrayal of Mila’s life is remarkable. When Liza
Monroy’s memoir is published — it will be excellent.
I also like Monroy’s tribute to her dad (“Ciao Papa”)
which I believe appeared in NYT Sunday Magazine.
Monroy is an outstanding new voice. She even practices
yoga on New York City rooftops.
Best regards to Liza and her readers,

John Saunders (aka Juan Sanchez)
